Rubber clutch insulator scare...

Have been driving the charger alot lately with the new fi tech system on it and was in town sunday when I went to stop at a red light and pushed in the clutch pedal and something didn't seem right. When the pedal came back up it kinda stuck and popped up and that was different so then I noticed instead of having around an inch or two of free play from the stop it had like 6 inches of free play. I still had a clutch but it was right on the floor now so we made a left and headed home quickly. I wasn't sure what was going on and was afraid the clutch would completely go away so I aimed it home. It was still the same once I got home so I jacked it up to look at the linkage and the rubber insulator was just hanging there. It goes between the metal adjusting washer and the clutch fork to keep the washer from being metal to metal and wearing out the clutch fork. I'm glad that's all it was that caused my low pedal issue, I ordered me a couple from brewer's that should be here in a day or so. I adjusted it up with the adjusting nut to get the pedal up to normal until the new insulator comes in. Lucky break this time thank goodness!!!!!

that happens I actually drove like that for a year, lol....clutch still works, but mine rode on the clutches so my bearing wore out...had it replaced and then adjusted to 1inch of play before it grabs

Never did like those rubber insulators, I replace them with the steel half-ball.

It lasted a good 10 years like that so I will just put me another one in there and go for awhile. If it wasn't soaked in oil it would have lasted longer I bet. Gonna take another stab at the rear main seal again soon to see if I can get it to stop leaking. The rope seal helped for awhile but its got a pretty good leak now. Ron has a good suggestion that I will try this time.
