Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

WOW sorry dude   that sucks

if you know me you wouldn't be sorry  :icon_smile_big: I done a lot with this car, had many adventures, many trips, etc...had a blast with it....I knew the consequences adding a blower to some hypereutenic pistons that could only hold 3lbs of boost, but I drove it for 1700 miles on 10lbs of boost engine was already a 515HP without blower adding 10lbs is a recipe for disaster!!!!   ;D

Not doubting your no doubt expert diagnosis.... but!......that does not look like detonation to me....more like good old fashioned piston failure. To get detonation so bad that it breaks the piston I would have expected to see the classic pock marks all over that pistons crown...and there are none visible, nor on the other pistons in you photo. Just my 2 pence worth!
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you !!

Then I agree with you piston failure since the other 7 didn't crack or anything....my friend actually said the same thing the other 7 didn't see any issues, but he said it could be more internal failure wont know till we take it all apart.  For now I like saying the knock knock joke  :icon_smile_big:

Challenger340

:Twocents: Looks to me like you ran out of top ring end gap on #1.... under the added Blower heat(expansion), with the coolest(smallest) cylinder being #1 closest to the water pump, well.... the ring ends "butted" and something had to give.

I vote for the ring gap issue. Gonna pop the top off every time if they were still gapped standard factory.

Who's there?
Mr carnage...
ANY policy that provides more to some based on race, gender, etc...over others is wrong and only perpetuates what it intends to correct.
