Guy's i'm stumped. I have 74 charger. installed new aftermarket wiring harness. When i turn the low beam lights on, the two high beam headlight are drawing about 1.7 volts, and the element inside the bulb is turning orange (which is probably from the 1.7 volts). I can take a jumper wire and ground the positive terminal on the high beam bulb, and the low beams get brighter, and the high beam glow goes away. I checked the dimmer switch, it is good. Both low and high beams  come off of the dimmer switch. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance...

that sounds like a bad ground on the low beam side of the wiring. what harness did you get? the AAW ones ive got have separate grounds for each side of the car, and you daisy chain them.

:iagree:

althought both high and low beams share same ground. Mostly sure when turning highs the low beam filament is also glowing just that is not posible to see it. On stock harness ALL the forward harness gets same ground at radiator core support. Dunno on your aftermarket harness

Thanks guys for the response. I got a crazy idea and wired the headlights up as if they were in the car on a work bench. I got the same results as before. What little mind I have, this is blowing it. Only thing I can think of is a bad headlight.
