Anyone Going to Spring Carlisle?

I know the spring show isn't Mopar oriented, but just curious if anyone else will be going? One of my friends, John, who happens to be a Chebby guy, will be meeting me there this year. He moved to VA a while back, so it seems the Carlisle shows will be the only times we can get together to hang out. It's almost exactly the halfway point from where he is in VA, & I am in NY.

I'm not bringing an old car, just my truck so I can get there. I'll be there Friday & Saturday, & leave on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing a bunch of old cars & parts since I'm tired of winter. I'm also using this as an excuse to go to my favorite place to eat, Nathan's Cafe. My friend John said the same thing, so maybe we'll just hang out at Nathan's & skip the swap meet. :D

Most likely won't be going, which is too bad.  I used to go to Spring and Fall for a few years in a row back in the late '80's eary '90's.  Always had a good time.  We used to hit a steakhouse on the Saturday night but I'd be damned if I can remember the name of it.

What's the specilaty at Nathan's Cafe?

Nathan's is actually outside Carlisle in the town of Enola. Found it by accident one night years ago, & almost didn't go inside because the building looked as though it should have been condemned.  :o  There was no place else in town to eat except for a Dunkin' Donuts & some fancy place where everyone was wearing a suit.

The front of the place looked like a house with neon bar lights in the window. The pot hole filled parking lot was in the back, & you had to go up these old, cracked & chipped, concrete steps that went behind a garage that was attached to the building. The garage was what scared me since the roof fell in, but we were hungry so we ignored it.

Once inside, it was no different than any other local watering hole. Very busy & crowded, so that was a good sign. A bar in the front with a restaurant area in the back. The menu had anything & everything, & when I spotted blackened swordfish I knew what I was having. My friends ordered steak which they said was fantastic.

I've been there many times now, & have had homemade crab cakes, stuffed shrimp floating in garlic butter, steaks, swordfish, & even the burgers, which will keep you from ever thinking about eating at McDonald's ever again. Different beers on tap including light & dark, & the owner usually comes over to the table to ask how everything is.

The last time he came over & asked, I told him I was disappointed he hasn't had the swordfish the last few times I was there. He said to call him when we plan on being back & he would try to make sure he'd have it. I thought that was pretty cool, so I told him his place was more important to get to than the car show when we go, & it is.

By the way, they have since fixed the garage roof. I'm getting pretty  hungry.  :drool5:

If I get extremely bored that week I might end up going but that is pretty unlikely considering how busy I have been lately....

I'll be there on Saturday Bob. I went for the first time last year, and while the Mopars were spread thin, it was still nice knowing Spring was here.  :yesnod:

Sounds like there may be a reason to pick a meeting place on Saturday. Let's see if anyone else is planning to go & we can set something up, even if it's just to tease my friend about his Chebbies. :D

I dont remember the name of it but I just know its there because I usually park behind it but theres a pretty good pizza joint/bar type place that I sometimes go to when im there. All i remember is theres a gas station next to it.

If there's only time for a cold one near the fairgrounds that's okay, but if someone is hungry & doesn't mind a 15 to 20 minute drive to Nathan's Cafe, that's where I'm headed for dinner at the end of the day. Besides, my motel is right near it.

Bob, Are you bringing those two with you? Niceeeezzzz!   :D  I would love to go and pick up some small stuff I need to complete the R/T, but I'll be in AZ and UT that week. I'll be there definitely in July! Might have to try that Nathan place.

I'll probably be going since it's close to me and I am off work next week. I go to the spring show to look for tools and supplys and old nostalgia items. Looking for Mopar items at the spring show is like looking for a needle in a haystack. If it's Mopar ya want then of course it's the Chrysler show at Carlisle in July and the Nationals in Ohio in August but you guys already know that.
The steakhouse you mentioned could be HOSS'S which is right outside of the fairgrounds close to the turnpike entrance/exit. Speaking of the turnpike. Don't use that exit going to the show, especially Friday amd Saturday mornings. Unless you like sitting in traffic.
