'69 440 Pump to carb fuel line question...

So, after many, many years of waiting and working, my car is almost to the "start engine" phase.  It's a '69 with a 440 and 727.  I'm running an Edelbrock Performer 750 carb.

When I got the car, it had a 440 in it, but the fuel pump had a nipple for the incoming side and a threaded female tube for the outgoing side.  There was a metal fuel line running from the pump up to the carb.  Somewhere along the line of pulling the old engine and building a different one, I no longer have that fuel line.  (also, the new fuel pump I bought has nipples on both sides for a rubber hose and clamp)

So, I had decided to just run a rubber fuel hose from the pump to the carb with an inline filter that would be along the inside of the right valve cover.  I had the distributor out for pre-oiling when I ran the fuel hose and filter to the carb.  Now with the distributor back in, I realize I have no room to run the hose in the manner I intended.

Any suggestions?  Should I buy a repro metal fuel line and lop it off down by the pump to put the filter down there?

After all the work and money and time, the stinking fuel line is the show stopper for starting up the car...

I bent my own w/fitting at carb.

I used a tubing bender for a couple of tight bends but did most of it by hand to get it exactly where I wanted it. I will say my hands sure hurt by the time it was done.

Check Ebay, they make them pre-bent now for most any carb. They are 2 piece, a small one theaded to the pump, then the filter, then the longer piece on up to the carb. I just bought one last month and I'm pretty sure it was under $20. For that price, it's not worth bending your own.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

My pump doesn't have threads though, so I'd end up just using the top piece...

First of all, 71 SE383V get that plastic filter off of there immediately.  That is a disaster waiting to happen.

UH60L - I ran into this same exact issue on my 440 with a Firecore RTR distributor.  I was also having fuel boiling issues so I decided to run a fuel filter (1 inlet - 2 outlet) mounted on my inner fender with the line going up over the valve cover. I also insulated the line and added a return line, and no more fuel issues.  My pump has duel nipples with rubber lines connecting to a metal line like yours.  I just bought metal line and used a bender to fit my setup, it is not that hard.
