Anyone familiar with Ford starters?

Anyone know what the difference is between the two solenoids of a Bosch type starter and a Ford type starter?

The replacement I got seems to be for an electronic ignition equipped car while the Bosch type seems to be for points equipped cars. The Bosch units seem to have an internal trigger "S" and "I" and just hook up with two wires plus batt +. Every schematic for the Ford style starters seem to have a remote starter solenoid.

Do I have to use the remote starter solenoid with a Ford style starter or can I just hook it up straight with factory wiring for a Bosch starter? The "I" wouldn't be used anyways as there is no need for a 12V feed to the ignition in the "Start" position for electronic ignition.

If they are both "s" ,  I would think you would be good if you don't need the "I". As you said , all ford's I've seen have the remote solenoid. Did you try jumping it?
God must love stupid people....he made a sh**load of 'em....

My buddy said it would work without the remote solenoid so I hooked it up the same as the Bosch starter (minus the "I") and tried it. While sitting on the fender It threw the gear out and spun in the start position like it should.

From what I can figure out the remote solenoid helps with hot starts, I'm struggling to understand why a remote solenoid piggybacked off the starter solenoid helps hot starts as it is still hooked up to the starter solenoid.
