New rebuild on my rear end / ratio change

I just had the rear end (8 1/4) rebuilt in the car cost to much they had a hell of a time to do it, the pinion nut gave them a big issue coming off never apart. Also changed the axle ratio to 3.55 as well as all the bearing and seals. But its done now could have put in a 8 3/4 for what i ended up paying ..but it runs nice! its only a 318 any way.

Sorry to hear. Don't understand the pinion nut issue for them and maybe them blowing smoke to add to your bill. Had no issue removing mine last month, there since 1966 !

This was friend of mine it was pretty rusted on there.. my luck ,even heating it up didn't work he said never had one give him such a hard time.

Did he use an impact? My 1/2" gun has dissassembled m1 abrams components. I assure you, they were bigger and more stuck then your pinion nut. Never heard of that problem.

Yep he used an impact never moved it,he said never saw anything like it.Just par for the course with this car,

I drove it to work today and it higher than Im used to ,Used to have 2.76  so it keep thinking its in 2nd gear. 3000 is about 62 mph i will have to get use to it... lot better off the line ,wont know for sure until i break in the rear and am able to test it.

NO some of the rebuild kit i got was wrong to had to buy some more parts i wasn't counting on.The whole rear fought him to come apart just my luck.
