My old 1968 came up with nothing, same with my 1969 XS car and the XP  :scratch chin:

Wonder why nothing showed?

I was hoping to find my old car was still out there somewhere  :popcrn:

Tell me the VIN and I'll google it.  Then it'll show up.   :icon_smile_big:

I haven't owned the car in 25 years, so who knows it it's even still around  :shruggy:

NICB can't find it either.

Wonder where it went?  :popcrn:

Interestingly enough, I bought the car from a guy in Chantilly, VA (had Florida Plates when I purchased) and sold it to a guy living one town over in Centerville, VA. I didn't live near either town, but it was amazing how in 1990 (when I bought) and 1991 (when I sold) it came from and went back to, within 5 miles of one another  :o

I think I found it in the Washington Post, and sold it in Auto Trader. I still have the ad from when I bought, and the autos section was probably 30+ pages on a weekend.

I think those things only work with "new" (since the 80's) 17 digit VINs.

I used to find some stuff here and there when I googled some VINs, but not anymore. I think they set up a filter or something so its not so easy to do searches involving VIN numbers.  :shruggy:

They're all in Australia, boys.

You're right A12. I google my VIN and it still comes up with the For Sale ad from South Australia in 2012!

I may be wrong here, but if it's still in privately registered hands and not for sale, a VIN won't pop up. Or if it's been destroyed. I think the Privacy act shut all that down.

Call the DMV or highway patrol tell them your interested in buying the car and want to make sure the title is clear and who or where it's registered, thats how I check car Vins before I buy them, since they have all records of who owns what where, its a good starting point, or maybe the charger registry?
