So after an extensive search of about 23 pages, I decided to write a topic and ask directly what I was puzzled about.

I removed my windshield from my 69 last night, removed the gasket and started to take off the remaining trip clips.

I noticed the bottom clips did have a standard screws, they kind of looked like they were welded on or glued.   I have not cleaned then to see if the remains of a screw is there.

Since this is my first windshield I was curious as to what I was seeing and what should be there.  I did see some info on the board but not really what I needed to know. I'm going to try and go through my manuals after work tonight and take some pics

Also there was staples? through the metal, I'm guessing it was for the original headliner.

Thanks in advance and look forward to the great advice here.   :popcrn:

The screws often get so rotted that they lose all definable appearance. You have to approximate where they were and grind in a slot to get a bite.

The staples are from the vinyl top. I gently start prying them out with a thin, small screw driver, then grab with a hefty pair of vice grips and yank them out.

sounds good , I wasn't sure if were kinda like a gm car where the tabs are weld on.

I m going to clean it all up and see what happenes from there

Just to update everyone, after further cleaning and ungooping the clips I found the screws, all needed to be drilled, but I had an easy out drill bit set , which made easy work of it.

All the metal underneath looked good but I wont be rushing to install the new glass yet as im going to take the dash out , put in new wiring, repaint paint everything etc.

As always thanks again for the help!
