is there a big difference between the two  is prices a big difference  mine has scalely rust on the back bumper across the flat spots in the middle if I give them to replate will that be obvious

Production chrome is just nickel plate over the base metal (in your case steel) buffed, then chrome plated (Chromium is clear or blue tint, or gray tint ask your plater what choices he/she offers)

Show chrome is copper plated over the base component(again in your case steel), then worked/buffed/polished, then nickel plated, then buffed/polished, then chromium plated, the copper is employed to allow the plater material to work with in filling scratches/lows/nicks/etc, the copper also "softens" visually the hardlines of the part being plated

Show chrome employs more product, more labour, so naturally the price is higher, however when done properly the "show chrome" piece will always appear visually better than production chrome
