Interstate batteries and fuel stabilizer.

It's been unseasonably warm here for about 3-weeks, w/daytime temps in the middle 50s to low 70s. It does tend to make one ponder a mid-winter jaunt in the dinosaur.  After talking to my brother in New England about his recent warm-up (where he got out his Shelby!) I couldn't help myself. I moved my old truck, opened the bay where she sleeps, dragged off the cover, moved the snow-blower out of the way, and backed it out on the starter (the beauty of a four-gear).  Pulled the air cleaner and gave it a glug of lawnmover/snowblower gas and replaced the unsilenced unit.  The Interstate battery in it has never been serviced since it was placed in the wrecked hulk to move it around during that last re-do (in June of 2008) and it has never even given a hint of struggling in all the time since (going on 8-years now). The car lit after about two complete revolutions and settled into an easy idle (I don't think it even puffed any smoke (?) as it occasionally does after long storage).  When I parked it early last November, it didn't have much fuel on board (not my normal habit) but I was distracted by other things and all I could do was give it a good shot of fuel stabilizer, wipe it down, and cover it.   Drove it over for a fresh load of premium (for less than $2 bucks a gallon...yea!).  These little mid-winter breaks here are sure nice, but I don't believe all the years I've owned it (going on 21 now) that I've ever had it out in February before. Another first!

Congrats!! That's amazing :2thumbs:

Here in Vegas we are also above normal temps. But to me that's a disadvantage because we already live in a warmer climate than those not in the southwest. Too hot too fast means a blazing hot summer. I mean it's going to be in the 80s today. 80 in February!!! Not that my Charger is road worthy as of yet but I would prefer temps in the 60s here in the dry climate for cruising. Heat just kills these old cars. MATS in about 3 weeks. Is it going to be in the 90s by then?

Anyway cool story, bet you were excited

The sheer volume of muscle cars riding around in my area today was astonishing. Conversly, the line at the automatic carwash was literaly out of the lot, down the street and around the corner. Lol

In my area, I haven't seen any musclecars out yet, but I sure have seen a lot of bikes out!

BTW, it's great that your battery has lasted this long. If you put a battery tender on it, you might even get a couple more years out of it.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Congrats!   Get out and drive'em.... that's what they're for.   :drive:

I've had Betty out 2 weeks in a row and like 4 times in the last month.   I spent $14.25 at the car wash yesterday on her just because :)

I normally have a battery tender on.  I never bothered with the fuel stabilizer...  especially now that a local NY chain sells non ethanol 91 octane (Stewarts).
