Just got a carb with an electric choke. Since it has to be on a keyed hot wire where is the best place to tap into one. thanks..

Key 12v power side of the ballast resistor or key on power side of voltage regulator.....some have used the key on wire of wiper motor as well

when it was part of the assembly it was taken from the blue circuit on regulator/ballast section

Correct...so you would end up with 2 wires on each connector on the single ballast resistor

This can be used to connect the choke wire to the double blue spade terminal on the ballast resistor.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

actually on lates with elect ign system and elect regulator/dual field alt from factory, the blue circuit got a splice taped into the hengine harness because more sources were required from this circuit.

of course adding any blue circuit device, the easier is splice it from the places mentioned
