Maybe because some people,  like myself... don't give a rat's ass about numbers?

Why Do people have to see Vin numbers?

Dodge Don

For the Registry so the existence/fate of these cars can be tracked.

I can see the importance of recording a VIN but I'd guess that many people that stumble across one of these cars don't even think about it at the time. I don't think that it is a matter of them being selfish, it just probably does not occur to them.
I'm behind the curve in terms of accepting new tech but I use my phone to store lists of things I need to do and take pictures of stuff I take apart to help with reassembly.

Well when I stumble across cars I don't go asking, hey can I write the vins down? Not exactly an opening conversation. Plus some people don't want their cars recorded and probably the reason they are stuffed in the woods out of sight. There's a few cars I have registered and a few I don't want to

Something that some people may be forgetting:
It can be difficult to break the ice with people that have had these old cars tucked away for years. Most that I have heard of are paranoid old guys with shotguns. It takes a guy with the right personality to ease their way into a friendly conversation with these types of people. My guess is that A guy in a suit, a Police officer, a skanky looking gang member would have the worst luck too.
Once someone like Chris is able to get these people talking, I'm guessing that he is careful to not push things too hard for fear of getting chased off.
Hey, what happened to that Black R/T you had at the Spring Fling? You had some big dollar offer on it if I recall. I saw your video about the purple 4 speed GTX and didn't see the car in the background.

I sold that black Rt/se with intentions of buying a blower for daisy, that green 69 r/t 4 speed track pack car( which I'm working on trying to get) and a few other chargers I had my eye on. But I got robbed and lost 19k of that money. I did buy the blower and a 1,500hp fuel system for daisy though. Not a total loss
