What is the difference between distributors on RB and B blocks?

Can an RB distributor work in a B block?

myk

I don't know what the difference is, but you can't use an RB dizzy in a B block without an adapter...

If an adaptor exists then I guess the difference is the the shaft length? It would make sense the the RB would need a longer shaft to accommodate the taller block I guess.

Yep, you are correct, the length of the drive shaft is the only difference. You can use an RB dist in a B block with an adapter.

Measured from the mounting flange to the tip of the shaft:

B engine shaft = 3.5"

RB engine shaft = 4"
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Hmmm.....that would give me some more room to route my fuel line.   :scratchchin:

Found measurements on another site for this adaptor. Very easy to make up out of billet aluminium if you have access to a lathe and a spare hour.
