this is a 440 833 tranny 18 spline  there was a spacer in the back of crank even with flange with a built in pilot bushing is this correct? i never seen this before and i dont know enough about 4 speeds

Most likely the crank as drilled for a pilot bushing but never had one installed. The additional bushing/bearing is the answer in this case. Not factory.
