Hello all,

At the stage of my 440 build where I need to pick a cam. I've narrowed it down to 2 from summit. The rest of the motor and car is as follows:

75 440-6 block with forged crank, six pack rods, and 8.66:1 forged pistons
Stock 452 heads, stock rockers
Probably Edelbrock Performer dual plane intake
Edelbrock 750 cfm Performer carb
A833 trans w OD
8 1/4 rear with open 3.21

SO it's not a powerhouse by any means, just a cool street cruiser with some thump. Here's the two cams I have in mind from Summit

The only thing keeping me from the second one is that my compression ratio might be too low. Let me know what you guys think. I talked to the guys from Comp Cams, and they recommended this cam http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/cca-cl21-222-4/overview/make/dodge

I think it`s closest to the first summit cam. Its twice the price of the summit cam, and I`m trying to keep the cost on the lower side. Thanks guys!

Appreciate the suggestion. I've had a chance to talk more with the engine builder this week too, and the smaller cam does seem better for what I want to do with the car.

check out the 440 whiplash from Hughes Engines.

it works with low comp ratio with out bleeding of the lowend torque for street use.

The smaller summit if you insist on the less expensive choice. Otherwise, I'd second a call the Hughes. For your combo, a short duration with a high lift would work best to retain cylinder pressure.
