check your ballast resistor first then try a different working ecu

rt_bigblock

3rd one to check that you got power to your ballast ignition side, when the key is let go from starting, I guess that's when it cuts out on you good luck Greg

singe and double ballast wiring even a simple test light or a meter will sort the power issues that only leaves the ignition box they do get intermittent with moisture gets into it ..

Don't rely on the color of wires either....

When it loses spark does it start up again right away
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Tha'ts what they do ,if you hold the key in start position it keep running I bet..

3-5 seconds seems like a clue.  If he is holding the key in start position for that time like rt_bigblock is suggesting, it seems that could do it.

For what it is worth, I had a key switch connection issue that I traced to the plug in connector.  I hooked up a voltmeter to the hot wire and ground and could see it disconnect when the key was in a certain position.  The shaking of the car by the engine must cause it to work loose.  The two times it has happened, it has been intermittent running, then off, not 3-5 seconds run then off.

What type of electronic ignition do you have?  I have an MSD and bypass the resistor.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

I use the chrome ignition from Chrysler since they invented it,  it has a big fat spark ... with 60,000 volt coil

hirev ECU  unit from Richard Ehrenberg here x3   if the mopar guru recommends and sells them they can't be bad   :scratchchin:

just put the Gold box in if you want to scream a small block to 10 grand on the tacko , Chrome box good 6600 rpm more than enough for a Bigblock

inside the cheap ecu copies that rust and go intermittent.. A good quality made by bosch  are getting hard to get just Mexico and china ones mostly
