71 Bee Man

G'day guys,

just wondering what the chances might be of a 1/18th scale 1971 Dodge Charger being prduced by one of the die cast model companies ?

They have heaps of various Mopars, but I'd love a 71 Charger. I realise they may not be as popular as other models, but surely there's a market for them.

Any ideas ? :icon_smile_big:

If it is anything like the parts repro market, chances are slim to none.

IS that match box car size or bigger?  I have one as a match box and a larger.

I second that.

Id like a 73...

A 73 might be possible to convince a diecast company to make, if you use the "Richard Petty raced one for 2 seasons" angle...
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

I'm talking the large scale ones.....the ones you could almost sit your kids in. I reckon the 71's are a good proposition, being as they are acknowledged as being probably the last of the true high performance models and that they have a great shape about them.

It confuses me when you see some of the models they make in die cast, yet a car like this is only just starting to make headway in the matchbox size area.

Matchbox size are 1/64 generally, so WAY bigger than that.

Patience folks.  There was one in the works until Revell got out of the 1/18 diecast business and there is already a 71 Road Runner hitting the market so I expect you'll see a 71 Charger very soon.

Actually he raced it more than 2 seasons.

I think I have seen a good sized Petty car, but...  It wasnt really what im looking for.  I want one with a full interior, not a roll cage, window nets and a stock car seat.   ;)

There is a 1/16th scale car out of Marty Robbin's NASCAR  1973 Charger. Its number 42 and painted in purple and yellow. Put out by Action. Only 3rd Gen Charger of this size I've ever seen. Bought it last year at a swap meet.

What I can'tunderstand is that while the 71 hasn't got the collectability of the earlier models, it is certainly collectible, but still hasn't had a run.

For goodness sake, here in Australia they make 1/18th scale versions of our Aussie Chargers and the population (and especially the Mopar population) is miniscule compared to that in the U.S.

Yeah, it's just me wanting what I want, but I reckon a nice 1/18th 71 Charger would look great in my cabinet.
