Hi from the Uk !
I'm looking to replace my 68 Charger bumpers as the front one has a crease in it and the rear around $1500+  :'( to replate here in the UK .

I've done some research and the AMD ones sound like they are good , has anyone bought some from Classic Industries at all ? Are these AMD too ?

Thanks Slumbers

I may be behind the times here, but I have only ever seen a single reproduction bumper set on the market.  All the different resellers appear to be carrying the same item.  That item is not as good as the originals.  The metal isn't as thick/strong, the rear bumper's finish is wavy, etc.

The repros are okay for a decent driver.  You can buy them affordably, put them on, and drive the car without too much worry.

But don't throw away your original bumpers.   Keep them stored at home.  If you (or a future owner) ever want or need to replate the bumpers again at some future time (say the reproductions quit being made for example) then the original bumpers are a much better starting point to use.  Even if they have dents/etc, at least the metal is better quality.

Here are some shots of my AMD repop bumpers.  Not as good as perfect oem, but not bad either.  Had to shim the rear to take away a slight twist but I am not sure if it was delivered twisted or if due to my several moves.

Repo bumpers came with my car.  When I got them out of the box, the finish was so bad that I had to take them to be rechromed.  This was before AMD came on the scene.

The repo bumpers I bought for a 68 Firebird I had were thinner and lighter.  Looked the same but less metal.  How did your AMD compare in this way/

I have Goodmark repros on my '69.
Front bumper has some waves, the rear bumper is actually very nice.
I thought the fitment was fine. Even originals need to be adjusted to the car.
Metal thickness was also good. I did not feel they were noticeably thinner than the originals.

One day I'll pull them back off & get them rechromed nicer. One day...   :Twocents:

Thanks for the pictures and advice Gentlemen  ;)

I bought a set of AMD's. They look really nice but they are not on the car yet.

I bought them because both my originals were bent. If your originals arent bent but just peeling or pitted then I suggest you keep them en have them rechromed. Might cost you more than a set of repops but nothing beats OEM reconditioned.

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

I bought a AMD front bumper from Tamraz about 4 years ago. I ended up talking to the owners of Tamraz and AMD over the poor quality.
the bumper was very poor quality, and the purchase was a very bad experience. I will not buy from Tamraz again for this reason.

I was very surprised with the response from the owner of AMD also, is his name Mark? he said I was too picky.

the argument was over the return shipping, $75.

Hi, if you are asking about me I am not Mark.  I have no affiliation with AMD but have had pretty good luck with them.  Had one rear panel out of spec and they gave it to me.  Suspect if someone has a bumper issue they would try to make it right.  Good luck.
