I know it's for the A/C, alternator or power steering just not sure which one.  Also don't remember if it's engine color or black...

I believe it's for the AC compressor....and it should be black

Thanks, I've been trying to find a picture of one actually on a motor with no luck.

It's for the alternator. It bolts to the front of the passenger side cylinder head and it is used for the long thru bolt.It should be painted black not engine color. John.

'69-'74 A/C brackets
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

They are for low deck engines like 383-400  not for tall deck engines like 426-440. (Wingman)

Makes sense since it came off my 383.  So, an A/C compressor mount for the D/S head.   :scratchchin:

yes, if I remember, the bracket mounts to the D/S head, with the threaded hole towards the rear

:iagree:
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

I thought the through bolt for the alternator goes straight into the P/S head like this.

John_Kunkel

It does on non-A/C cars but the A/C setup mounts the alternator a little higher so the subject bracket elevates the through-bolt a little above the hole in the head.

Yep that's correct, finally found a pic...
