Tic-Toc Tac Question

Stupid question.   We are wiring the car right now and got to the cluster.   All this time I never really paid attention to the supposed tic-toc tac but as I am looking at it, it isn't a tic-toc tac. (below is the cluster before restoration)

Isn't all R/T's supposed to come with the tic-toc tac or was is optional?

I'm guessing it's optional and mine didn't come with it.

Below is the new fender tag, the old one can be found on my site

In 1968 and 69, the Clock came as part of the Rallye Dash/gauge package which all Chargers came with, and the Clock/Tach was optional.   It should show up on the fender tag as N85 if it has a Tach.   In 1970, the Clock became optional equipment, so you could have a clock-delete plug in that spot on a 1970 dash.   You could still get the Clock/Tach in 1970 though.

BTW, cool sounding car... it has the Armadillo color scheme!   :P

And also, don't think you'll get away without posting pics - none of this "see the website" stuff...  lol

Don't forget the special '69  Tach only option :icon_smile_big:   It's special order code RBYJ$275   :coolgleamA:

Hemigeno:  Dumb question but with the '70 clock delete plug - was there a clear plastic face without the hole for the clock adjuster screw?    Yeah... this is my Julius tach I got but I just want to know if there's something that I can get to plug up that hole  ;)

That is interesting, I have never heard or seen just the tach with no clock, that has to be rare??

My 70 Superbee had the clock-tach-delete plug. there was nothing in the hole in mine.

I do like the Tic Toc Tach better myself, it does cost more to change the clock to quarts though  ;D

8Wheeler Dan...  please turn on your sarcasm detector  ;D   It was my attempt at being funny.

There was NO factory tach available by itself...  that's my Restorations by Julius tach.

Thanks for the update on there being nothing in the hole for the clock delete plug ... that's very helpful !!!!   :)

Thx for the answers guys...Don't know why I never noticed it before, guess it was the trillion other small things to do on this car that made me miss it.  Since I don't have the N85 on my fender tag I don't have the tic-toc tac.

Hemigeno, here are a few of the most recent fullbody pic's I have of the car

That was about almost a year ago.  Since then we've put the engine & tranny in

Done the new suspension, put in the fuel tank, fuel neck, fuel lines.  Plus the brakes are in along with the new lines front to rear.  Carburetor should be coming back from RaceKrafters in a week or so.  Put the complete dash in the car is now getting wired and should be done tomorrow.  After that I'm waiting on the side glass, which is getting polished, then we install those side windows then off to get the interior in.  Getting real close now, actually starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Hey that is a great idea with the taped towels everywhere you might be tempted to set sompthing.I love it.Oh-yeah GREAT LOOKING CHARGER!!!!

Curt has a killer combo car......wait till you see it with the red interior installed.

One question though Curt.....hard to tell from the pics but did you fill in the holes for your M25 Wide Sill Moldings (rocker moldings)???
Chris' '69 Charger R/T

Starman417

Nope, they are still on there....even if the body shop did fill them in believe me they would be putting them back in.  The final stage of this resto is back to the body shop to fix a few flaws I have found around the trunk area.  Nothing major but they need to be fixed.

I can't wait to see that interior in...A4 silver on red is gonna look sweeet.

Just to be anal, but "Tic-Toc-Tach" is a GM term.  I forget if it was Chevy or Olds that used it (I think Olds) and somewhere it got boogered into the general slang like "posi".  Which is another of my little anal peeves.
There, I feel better now.

Great job Starman!  :2thumbs:

Have you posted recently? For some reason I missed how much progress you have made.    I remember talking with you about the red interior on the old site..mine is red exterior and red interior.

Thx for the compliments, they are very much appreciated....after all the headaches it's nice to have people letting you know its going good.

694spdRT - Havn't posted much, mainly a lurker...checking out other's rides and so forth.  I remember ur ride and talking about it but I gotta tell ya, this board and the old one has been a godsend....so many questions answered from you guys.  I tell my buddies when I'm working on the car and I don't know the answer that all I have to do is post a question on here and bam.

ChargerRob - definately!  I can see a small light at the end of this tunnel, and it's slowly getting bigger.

Got word today that the car is now completely wired, so now I'm waiting on the side glass to get done being polished and then install the side windows.  After that it's off to my interior guy.  Almost there.

Mustanghater - I saw those on paddock, but I am going the stock route on this baby so if it wasn't optioned then oh well.  Just was funny that in close to two years I never noticed this...doh!
