How many bolt patterns were used in the 60's and 70's? I have a set of 15X7 stock Chrysler wheels with 5 X 4 1/4" ?? What would these fit on? I thought A bodies were 4" and all others were 4 1/2".

Nacho-RT74

as far I know ALL 5 bolts Mopar pattern are 4 1/2"

Yeah, that's what I thought too. So far two of us are wrong :yesnod: Anybody else know anything about them??

lumpy

Maybe I'm measuring wrong?? I always went from center to center. But then I find this...

no is from center to center... is from outer edge of one bolt to the center of one of the oposite bolts...

Let me check the link

as I thought and stated.

That is because on 5 bolts pattern there is not a real opposite bolt o measure from bolt to bolt and get the exact diameter, so that would be the theorical diameter measurement.

ALL bodies with 5 bolts patterns are the same, including Jeeps, so A, B, C, E, etc... too

Right, the two main bolt patterns are 5 on 4 for A-bodies and 5 on 4 1/2 for the rest.

In 1973 A-bodies with disc brakes changed to 5 on 4 1/2 but drum brake cars stayed 5 on 4 until 1976

Imperials prior to '74 have a 5 X 5" bolt pattern.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I've been taught to measure from the centre of one stud across to the centre of another stud.  centre to centre

John_Kunkel

Measuring across the studs only works if there are an even number of studs, with five lugs the studs are never directly across from each other and the measurement will be wrong.

When you measure from the centre of one stud, across to another stud (never beside) you will get your bolt pattern measurement.

Switch it up, pick two different studs to measure, centre to centre, again, not beside each other, and you will get your bolt pattern measurement.

Of course, with 5 stud holes you will not be able to measure across the centre of the hub.

Attached is a link of what I have been taught.
