edelbrock Top end kit reviews?

just curious if anybody is running one of these "kits" on their 440?


I see they come with heads, cam, intake etc.....suppose to all work together nicely


anybody have this that can provide a review?  :shruggy:

On a side note, would you guys ever buy a used cam and lifters? i have found a mopar purple 484 cam, with lifters. I can probably get it all for about 100 dollars. Only ran for 1 hour on a engine stand.

Is this risky or stupid to do? or not? is 100 for a cam and lifters a good deal? Im just curious is all....if this is something to pursue or if im better off buying new

Aluminum heads will not automatically create more power than iron heads unless they flow more air and are installed on a higher compression ratio engine. The reason i ask is im thinking about doing a new cam, and heads down the road....maybe it would make sense to do this instead?

I am using basically that combo, although I didn't purchase it as a kit. Same heads and intake with a comp xe275hl Johnson lifters and billet timing set on a 10.2:1 448 short block. It has pushed my 4000lbs plus charger to a best of 12.83 @ 109.8 so far. I imagine their cam would give similar results but with probably less vacuum and a rougher idle. Component quality is good.

As stated above - angle plugs can be an issue with some headers.
