I've replaced the door post and have test fitted the door. The door post has a little edge on it (see pic). I've noticed that the 40 year old weatherstripping on my door is not on the edge, but rather towards the inside. Is this normal?

I was sure to measure multiple times before installing the new door post, so I'm sure the door opening is exactly the same size as before.

Any comments and/or pictures would be helpful.

I don't know if this helps but here's a pic of my old door.

No but thanks anyway. I need to see where the door weatherstripping meets the door post on the car.
