Wow, how rare is that?  I've never seen it on a Charger before...

A383Wing

depends on what engine it came with originally, either a slant six, or a 318 would be my guess...and yea, kinda rare as it would have only had the 3spd trans

In 1968, you could get a manual column shift Charger with either the /6 or the 318, but not with the 440 from the factory.  I think it is either a /6 or 318 Charger that has been upgraded to a 440 somewhere later in life.  That was common with them to be used for racing fodder.

The production numbers are off on the /6 with that transmission combo, as I have seen a few of them, yet it was listed at one time as being a one of one known combo.  My guess is that there were probably 50 to a 100 of those made that year.  Who knows how many of them are left as is?

As for the 318 version from 1968, that one is even stranger as no production numbers were ever kept on that combo.  My guess is that there were probably 50 to 100 of those made, with only a few of them left (15-25 is my guess).  I used to have a yellow exterior, green vinyl top, gold interior project Charger that had that combo per the fender tag.  It was registered with TDC before I traded it off to another collector.

I have a 1970 base Charger with the /6, manual column shift from the factory.  In that year, only 104 were made like that (base model, /6, column manual).  Probably less than 15 of those have survived...

Was likely a 6-banger/318 manual 3 car...  Considering what you get, not too shabby in today's market.  I'd still rather have something more complete if I was to pay over 20 out the gate though  :Twocents:

About 15 years ago I remembered seeing a 69 Charger for sale, it had a /6, 3 on the tree... it was white with blue interior. It was an oddity, but back then I thought "no way in hell Im paying 4k for a 6 cyl. Charger". Wish I would have bought it now.

Sounds like this car needs to go in that "Delusional sellers" thread..

Well, the guy says it needs the ceiling fixed so I'm no longer interested at $25G's.   :smilielol:

all of the /6 & 273/318 3-spd manual b-bodies 1966-1969 were column shift

somewhere around 2,500 1968 Chargers were  built with the 3-spd manual transmission (it was the STANDARD transmission in the base /6 Charger & V8 Chargers)

Anyone notice that there's no fan blade?

Well that explains it :brickwall:

Thanks

I had a 69 once that was a 318 with 3 spd column shift, uncommon in Chargers that's for sure.

My crystal ball tells me that in the future 6-cyl/318 Chargers (and Challengers for that matter) with manual 3-speeds will become very, very valuable what with all the guys converting them into RTs and Hemi clones.....

*But then my crystal ball also told me to invest in Enron Stock a few years back.....(LOL)

Yes, rarity does not always mean valuable, especially in this case.  It is all in the eye of the beholder.  They may never become as valuable as an RT version (let alone a hemi), but they do attract attention at car shows, far more than even a factory 426 hemi car (for the /6 version that is).  It is a relatively "cheap" way (for Chargers that is) to get your hands on a rare oddball Charger that only a few have.  Try doing that with a factory 1968 383-2 bbl. (or 4bbl), 4-speed Charger and you will find it usually costs more to get one of those (people tend like to make RT clones with them ah la Bullitt).

There is another piece to this puzzle though:  If you ever want to complete a collection of every possible engine/transmission combo in the second gen Chargers, than you will need at least one of each for the set.  This is what I have my eyes on doing someday...

My 68 parts car was originally a 318 with a three speed on the tree manual transmission car. I didn't realize it until I noticed it still had the clutch Rod boot in the firewall and the bracket for the Z-bar on the drivers front frame rail. Thought it was odd that It had those items but no hole in the transmission tunnel.

GOTWING

anyone remember the f8 green slant six three on the tree at Englishtown NJ raceway park Mopar Atlantic show in the late 80's early 90's that was for sale ? it was a survivor very nice original car with a couple of garage dents. :flame:
