Hi,

I need new battery cables and am converting from a 440 to a 528 Ray Barton Hemi. Apparently the 426 Hemi battery cables are different to the standard 440 cables.

I am not trying to do an exact 426 Hemi duplicate and am wondering which cables I will need. More the question which ones will work with my new set-up?

Btw, the Hemi cables cost roughly twice as much...

Thanks for feedback,

Charlie

I think you will be fine with the standard 440 cable. Hemi cable incorporates the neutral safety switch, starter relay and a few other items if I remember correctly, into the cable. So unless you are going to mess with the rest of the wiring to match, you should be good to stick with the standard big block battery cable. Only thing you will need to do is make sure the cable is well insulated where is passes by the manifold/header pipe.

You probably know this, but once you decid eon style, don't skimp on quality.  I has a cheap one that I almost melted.  You don't want to do that.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

My car had original 383. Cables worked fine with 528. I used one of the mini staters from Summit Racing for more clearance.
