E Brake Routing under hood

I was lucky enough to be able to actually get to my garage and see my car for the first time in about 2 months. Opened the hood and was reminded about this hack job area on my car. Where is this supposed to be routed?

that Z-bar bracket does not look stock...at least it does not look like my OE 4spd cars...

Not sure,not using it anyway, more concerned with the pinched off e brake cable routing.. I dont know where it's supposed to run

It should connect on the E brake itself, then run outside the firewall into the drivers fender area, then underneath. into a hole in one of the front frame rail area before it connects to the splitter for the rear wheels.

Thats what I thought, but you can tell by the pic that it looks pinched where it currently sits? Is there like a notch or something where its supposed to go or is it to taught?
