power steering column ?????

 I have noticed my steering wheel rubs the top of the column  on some turns so I grabbed a hold of the wheel and pulled up on it and it came up about 1/8 in. and I can slide it back and forth that much.  Does that sound like column shaft bearings being gone ? I never had the problem before on any car of that era...

yea, sounds like upper bearing is bad, or snap ring broke
