Correct factory tires for '68 Charger R/T?

Hi guys,

I'm new to this site and would appreciate your help in determining the correct tire manufacturer for the redline tires that came from the factory on the '68 models.   All the literature I've found gives only the tire size, not manufacturer.  Goodyear had an ad in '68 for their wide boot tires, but that doesn't mean that they supplied the red lines from the factory.   My understanding is that I can buy either Goodyear or Firestone redlines, and I want to pick the factory correct one for our restoration.  Thanks in advance for your help....Histoy

They can set you up and there tires are very good quality.

When I picked up my new R/T in '68 it was equipped with Goodyear F70/14 Polyglass Redline tires.  You won't find those anymore, as far as I know.  8Wheeler is correct in sending you to Coker Tires.  There's another company that sells the retro tires, but their name escapes me now.  Maybe I'm getting old.  Bob

Thanks for the info guys.  We plan to order them from Coker Tire.    I'm told they carry both Firestone and Goodyear redlines, but the Firestone have recessed lines and the Goodyear have raised lines like the new radials.  All the old '68 literature shows the lines as being recessed, not raised.  I'd prefer the tires look period correct.

The Charger restoration guide I purchased said the '68 muscle cars came with Speedway Wide Treads.  I found this tire at Universal Vintage Tire.  It's a Goodyear redline tire that sells for $170 in the size F70-14 and $215 in the size F70-15.   It appears to have a recessed red line like the original literature shows.  Coker didn't list Goodyear tires on their website....Brian
