everything you need to know about heads:

casting numbers can be found in lower part of this image

cam, no way of knowing by looking at it from your vantage point.  the only way to know by visual inspection is if its an aftermarket cam and they stamped a part number where the cam gear mates to it...

if it is an OE cam, then the numbers from your block will most likely tell you what cam was in it.

thank you RD...my casting numbers are 28439 ,acording to that very informal article ...they are 68 906 heads...theres a letter f in the upper left  corner and 68 right after the casting numbers...i looked at the pistons and they are 30 over flat tops (non-flycut)  ...cylinder walls look good .... :2thumbs:  the only thing i saw wrong was antifreeze under the valve cover and a couple of pushrods crusty up near the rockers ...do these head bolts have a tendancy to leak??? ill post a couple pics ...

i agree,.. it's a major PITA,.. your gonna have to start the post/thread over from scratch,.. I think Troy made it like that on papose so i wouldn't post so many pictures of alphas and ferraris...  :shruggy: hitting the "Back" button wont allow you to post pics - as one might expect...   :pity:

RD

you shouldnt have antifreeze there at all.  i would have your heads taken to a machine shop and magnafluxed for cracks.

Instead of only hitting the back page, use the browser refresh button also.  I usually have to just rename it as something off the wall.  Good Luck
