Why do people drool over an HEMI engine? (or 'abuse' the HEMI)

I did see a Coronet come through an auction several years ago that had Hemi valve covers faked in over top of the regular 440 beneath them. (likely put the photos on here someplace)

I just remembered something from way back.  I recall that someone was making slip on head covers for a small block chevy to make it look like a hemi.

It would be cool if one of you research geeks could find out if it was true.

That's funny :smilielol:  That you said that while I was recalling a chevy version.

Nope.  (but it would have been interesting to see what happened had the Ford SOHC been allowed to live)

No doubt the cammer had a lot of potential....

But I bet the problems with a 7 foot plus timing chain could be interesting too. :scratchchin:

The Chrysler,Dodge & Plymouth vehicles from years ago started the fire with this Iconic engine, which in turn got every person wanting to use the strongest engine on the track or strip.  if you check out the history of drag racing, you will see many GM & FoMoCo's using this very engine. Not limiting it to a 426 cid but most noticeable for it's advertisement on and in each vehicle as well as the look of the Massive Elephant engine itself.
You have to admit, the look of that huge engine sitting in any engine bay commands respect as well as attention.  For that matter the Ford 429 Boss engine is very impressive to look at under the hood!
