Hello

To fit the brakes i need to replace wheels bearings with green bearings. ..how do i get the old ones off..

Thank you
Pete

Mopar Nut

I took mine to a machine shop to have cut off and new ones pressed on. The first shop ruined one of my axle flanges.

What type/brand of rear disc are you installing?

I don't understand, the disc kit requires the green bearings or you are just taking the opportunity to replace the wheel bearings?

Just take your axles to a mechanic ( that you trust) to have the bearing removed and replaced, they are pressed on and many shops have a press on site.

Its because there's  a mounting bracket that bolts in front of the bearing retainer.

although Baer is a fortune which I may consider, you don't need to change the rear bearings with their kit. I spoke to them on the phone, very helpful, took time and answered all of my questions.

Yep I agree, you won't get long life out of those low load green bearing, ford and chèbby item,
Nothing stands up like factory ones ,
Chrysler engineers had it right first time

Ill tell if mine ever wear out I put in green bearings in mine also.  Dr. Diff explained to me there are two types out there forgot what they were, but the ones he sells wear as long as the stockers  unless I plan to do some drifting in the charger.

I told him im a professional drifter in Japan and I drift all around the world.....

he then asked, 'Why are you drifting in a 68 charger they cant drift.......

I hung up after that.....

I have used green bearings in several of my rides for years.  No issues or problems to date,

Not everybody has had good service from the Greens, Mopar forums are rife with tales of failure.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I dont get the hype about failures with green bearings. That style bearing is used in just about every car today, including pickup trucks. I had them behind my 8 3/4 that got drove hard through curves with no failures.
I have heard that the old style "green" bearings that had the flange and bearing as one unit were not as reliable as the new style that uses a snap ring on the retainer. The cause was due more to bent axle tubes then the bearings themselves. Like anything, proper setup is key and a 45 year old housing should be checked.

Anyhow has anyone change there wheel bearings at home
I have a cheap Chinese 4 tonne press so i was going to have a go.

My 5-ton arbor press won't work on them, my 20-ton hydraulic strains but gets them off/on.

I second John's comment. 20 ton or higher on those.
