I have a question for the body men/welders on this forum. I have a small rust hole under my back seat and wonder if I should just weld it shut, or make a small patch panel and weld it in.

Charger-Bodie

Cut out that area and replace the thin pitted area.
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

Mopar Nut

I would cut it out and replace it too.

+1 on making a small patch, most of the time the thin pitted metal will just make a bigger mess. You will end up chasing the hole around because the weld will blow away the thin surrounding area...
1968 Charger R/T, matching numbers 440/727, black with green top and interior, currently getting restored by me

Okay guys, a small patch panel it is. Thank you for your advice :2thumbs:

The area is so small I would just fill with epoxy putty once sanded and painted you will never know Unless you cut a perfect patch and butt weld it. The patch will stick out like a sore thumb.

Thanks for your reply but I already cut it out and gonna weld in a small patch panel.
It's under the backseat so nobody is going to see it anyway.
