looks very neat. Haven't seen many consoles (in real life) to begin with - and even fewer with rear lighter.

option or did all have them?

I think that the lighter was a C body option and have not heard of being "factory" in a Charger before.

that could well be - kind of strange in a 2 door (non SE) car...

Would the consoles otherwise be same - thinking of lid etc...

I am by no means a C body expert but, I think the C body console is basically the same. I do remember one C body console that had a different type of woodgrain finish on the top plate. It looked like a burl or rosewood type finish. I don't know on the '68 and earlier cars as to whether they were ribbed or had a smooth top plate finish.

This console came out of a 67 Charger.

Dan is probably right with that '67 console. I have not personally seen a 2nd gen with a lighter before....not that it couldn't happen though.

Somebody must have added it to that 67.  The lighter for the back on the 67's is in the ashtray between the seats on the rear console.  Adding a second one that is actually further away from the rear passengers doesn't make any sense.  Plus, there is no provision for it in the front console wiring, it isn't called out in the fsm anywhere or the 67 parts catalog, nor do I find it in the US or Canadian sales brochures as an available option.  I've never seen one in a 67 before but I haven't seen every car.  I'll stick my neck on this one just the same and say,no, not available in 67.  I think it's a C-body thing.

I had a 69 Monaco with a lighter in the console. I also found one in a 69 Charger R/T SE in a junkyard that had one like that in it, but I guess anybody could have put one in, I don't know if the factory did or not.

A lighter was an option in the gen2 Chargers (at least in 68, not sure about others).

Just as a matter of interest, the most lighters I ever ran across was in a 64 (I think), or maybe 65. LaBaron. It had SEVEN  lighters in it! One each in the drivers, and passangers ashtrays, one each in the drivers and passengers door arm rests/ashtrays (in case reaching the extra 10 inches to the dash ashtrays was too much effort), one each in the rear passengers arm rest ashtrays, and one in the center arm rest base (like this post is about), except that it also had it's own ashtray.

I had one of those consoles several years ago. It was out of a 4 door car that had bucket seats. I don't remember what kind of car it was now. Strange thing was the bucket seats were solid and didn't fold forward. Oh yeah, the console also had a vacuum gauge mounted on the front that looked exactly like a tach. It had the 69 style top plate.
