I just test drove a 2015 Challenger R/T an hour ago

First impression?
NICE car.  The ride was softer than I expected. The 8 speed seemed to shift 3 times before I reached 30 mph. Plenty of torque out of the gate. Plenty of 30 mph-50 mph passing power. The interior is very nice and the seats are very comfortable. I love the exterior changes, especially the new grille. The hood looks similar but the scoops are bigger and further forward. I have looked at many 08-14 cars from the outside but have only been inside one 2013. The 13 is a 5.7 R/T and belongs to a fellow car club member.
When did cars get so complicated?
Keyless entry, keyless engine start, blind spot warnings, 9 airbags, traction control...I'm really out of the loop. This car is Jazz Blue. The wife and I are set on getting B-5 Blue though. We will probably order the car the way we want it. The salesman said that ordered cars are usually delivered between 8-10 weeks after a deposit is made.
Its nice to feel enthusiastic about a new car.

myk

Sounds like fun, I hope you go through with it...

Is the current B5 blue the same as from 1969 when the code began?

nope.  Take 69-70 B5 and remove just about all of the green tint from it.  Still pretty close but side by side it's pretty obvious.

Even though my 2010 R/T is "old" now with a drab interior compared to what's coming out now, the car still feels somewhat new'ish to me every time I drive it.  Parking it for 1/2 the year probably helps that feeling.  Congrats on your future purchase. Order one "without" a sunroof and make it a little more unusual than the rest out there! :yesnod: Take the 8-10 week delivery time with a grain of salt. Lots of posts on Challengertalk over the years about the cars sitting and sitting for weeks on end. Lots fall in that time frame but lots just sit for whatever reason. Was driving up towards Brampton yesterday and saw two truck loads of Challengers heading east on the 401.  :2thumbs:  Wish it was in the cards for me to go a little more modern  ;)

I have loved the challenger since it hit the scene!! Had once thought about selling my charger and buying a new challenger but I talked myself out of it thank goodness!!! Two of my friends bought challengers and I got to drive both of them and got the new car fever but I came back to my senses and decided to keep my charger. Maybe one day I can afford a nice used one!!  :yesnod:

I have 3 cars up for sale now to help fund the new car purchase. I'll be fixing and selling two more later!
The car we drove was too dark for us, though still a nice color. I wish their color selection was greater. Two different shades of black? Two shades of white? No yellow, no Inferno red, No green of any kind, no light blue, no brown. There sure were MORE color choices back in the 70s.

My 2011 RT Classic 6 speed is a lot of fun. I got an email from Dodge confirming they only made 31 of these in the red and black. It was 2 years old and had 1600 miles, when I bought it last summer. I read that the 2009 Challengers had a LIFETIME warranty for only that year and I was looking hard for a low mileage one but never found one. Drive a 6 speed, they are a lot more fun in my opinion. Good Luck!

I think you're the first to complain about not having a choice of green or brown in the last few decades.

Yeah, maybe so. I just like a wider variety of colors. I've seen enough black or silver ones.

I totally agree, I was just messing with ya!    :icon_smile_big:

They've produced some different colors over the years..just have to be there when they do.

The 5.7 is a great motor...but if u test drive the 392 it will be a different experience.  :2thumbs:

I have over 75K miles on my 09 RT.  It has been my daily driver and lives outside.

I have done 13.2 in the quarter on the factory street tires.

The 09 does have a lifetime drivetrain warranty.

I was not impressed enough with the 6.1 over the 5.7 to get it for a daily driver.

I have driven a 6.4,
and THAT would be worth the difference.

When my son takes off for college I will probably get the 6.4 and pass the 5.7 off to him.

My plans were to sell three of the cars I have here, then move forward. I sold two and am in the process of parting another out. Hopefully by Sunday or Monday I'll get to the dealer to order the Challenger the way we want it.
We both like the shaker hood, but I've heard that they are really spendy for the factory one, something like $2300 ! I'd be much better off buying a quality aftermarket kit and doing the paintwork myself.

I feel ya. I sat in a 2015 R/T at the dealership the other day and our 2010 R/T feels cheap and outdated by comparison based on the interior alone.

the wife and I (technically the Chally is her car) are pondering and crunching numbers to consider maybe perhaps possibly trading it in for a new one. It's not only the "oh, gotta have the newest" thing either...we've had a few issues with the 2010 (TIPM, etc) that have kinda dampened the excitement of it. That being said, I wont be terribly devastated if we decide not to / can't get a new one and keep the '10.

We tried to place an order tonight but the sales manager hit a roadblock: Since B-5 isn't available until NOV 3, his computer wont even let him place an order until then.
