I have been doing some research on the chromate conversion coating done on Zinc alloy carbs. I have come up with 3 processes to do this. 1 one is a solution of sodium dichromate and sulfuric acid. The other other 2 are commercial products one put out buy Caswell plating and the other is Alodine and is used in aircraft restoration. I am aware of the dangers involved with these chemicals. I am looking for any insight or ideas from anyone who has any experience  in this process.
Thank you Dave

I've used Alodine 1200 for corrosion protection, it leaves a light tan/brown surface that wouldn't be appropriate for carbs. Alodine 1001 is clear and should retain the original aluminum color...both are chromic acid based. With minimal eye protection, Alodine is fairly safe...I've had it all over my skin.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
