440 intake pan doesn't cover space above heat riser like old one

66 440  put new intake on. The new "pan" gasket doesn't cover space above the heat riser hole. Is this the "new" norm. The original one did.

You need one with the "heat blocked", different part #.

I see pictures of engines with the same part of opening exposed. The actual heat riser port is blocked.

Aluminum heads have no heat cross over ports. (Not needed.) You need this style if blocking heat: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/fel-1215?seid=srese1&gclid=CKyutd2ht8ECFSVo7AodaW4AzA

That part is open on my cast iron heads too and the actual crossover port is blocked. From most iv'e seen it's normal!!
