Your 68 wins in ways that Hellcat will never be able to.  Kudos to you for lining up though...

What did you run,  it doesn't show your time? Doesn't look like you were too far away at the top end..

That's pretty impressive given the BFG tires that are pretty much useless at the track. Your MPH shows the power and it prolly woulda been a few MPH more without wheel spin  :2thumbs: you had fun,
Way to represent the old school  :2thumbs: :coolgleamA:

I'm looking forward to lining up against a HellCat  :icon_smile_cool: The old 446 combo would have given that car a descent run....11.60's VS the 'Cat's 11.40  ;)

The new Stroker combo is a whole different animal though  :D

FWIW, The Black Pig has never been beaten by modern muscle ; raced an R/T Challenger & SRT8 Challenger and handled them pretty easily with the old 446 pump gas build.  :2thumbs:

sort of and not really just IMO.  hellcat has a supercharger your probably just talking about 440s and/or stroked 440s lining up with N.A.

for price though sure the hellcat is top dog....im sure though a 30k engine from nelson racing HEMI BLOWN slap that in a old school.

like I said though the HELLCAT will increase in value in 20 years and very few will have them even though a lot are talking about getting but hell a lot of guys could barely get a SRT.  In 2014 will be like 1970..............all over again.

I retract that...has no A/C in old school cars runnings.......

My 69 can be beat by a Toyota running a flat, but it will never look anywhere near as sweet.   :coolgleamA:

All this power means little in a package that has no character.  No offense to the new muscle car lovers, it just doesn't do it for me.  No matter how hard I try, there is nothing here that tickles my fancy.

Maybe it's because I grew up aroud cars that would kick old muscle ass all day long, they too did not light my fire, regardless of the power under the hood.  I need a car that speaks to me.

It was fun driving the fast lane on the freeway today and have every car move over when I approached.  Not that I could keep up with half he modern cas out there, but it matters little when they see the beast coming.    :icon_smile_big:

It's just my opinion. There is no right or wrong when it comes to taste.  I honestly wish I would like a new muscle car well enough to add to the stable, but there's nothing out there that makes me go wow.

Technology has triumphed.  Any old timers that believe otherwise have lost rational thinking.
The old muscle cars of the seventies are a part of history and when one tries to mod them forward it's a tough haul.
Enjoying these cars as they were is the big part of the hobby.

When we start saying my dog's better than your dog let's not forget we are talking about different breeds. :Twocents:

Its not as if this is the first time new muscle has equalled or even beaten classic muscle; the F bodies of the 90's could run 13 seconds in the quarter bone stock and with factory tires.  Some would argue that special cars from the 80's could achieve that as well.  Asides from premium muscle cars like COPOs and the like, not many 60's muscle cars can claim that sort of performance.

Classic muscle started a genre of cars that changed the world of machines and cars forever, but like anything else good, it must come to an end.  There's nothing malicious or bad about that, its just life...
