its about time!!! lol

they kept saying that the last time a dodge won there in Atlanta it was in 1977 by Richard Petty...

The question is, what was up with the other dodge's?

Also, did some dodge's use a different style front clip than Kasey's?  I thought I seen different grille placements... anyone?

Kyle Petty finnished 8th. I think Bobby Labounty would of had a good chance to win if his engine didn't blow :brickwall: He had a strong car at the beginning. Ryan Newman ran the Intrepid nose again.

Labonte and Newman ran Intrepids.  Everyone else ran Chargers.  The Dodge teams engineers said that wind tunnel testing showed the car to be better than the Chevy and Ford, they just couldn't get a handle on it.  The car has proven to be very quick by itself but tempermental in traffic.  It looks like they are making progress because Atlanta is an extremely aero sensitive track.  I would have bet money that they could not have pulled out a win at Atlanta, I'm glad I was wrong.  Hopefully this means that they are making progress on the aero issues.  Just think how the race would have turned out if the 43 and 2 did not have problems...  and how about Kyle in eighth?!?!  Miracles can happen.  SWEEEEET!

Sorry Dodge Charger Guy, I guess we were typing and thinking the same thing!

am I the only one who thinks that Kahne is overrated and overhyped? I know he's a Dodge guy, but still. In my opinion he still rates below Mears, Newman and Busch, as far as Dodge drivers go.

He's winning races. How does that may him over rated?  :icon_smile_approve:

I like the kid. He's a damn good race car driver for his age and I'm sure with the experience he's gaining he's gonna be around for a good long time.

As I said before.....you go Kasey.  :icon_smile_approve:

He's winning races.

so is Kyle Busch, but no one sings his praises because, oh the horror, the kid shows some attitude. Carl Edwards won 4 times last year. I'm not saying Kahne sucks, I'm just saying he's not as good as everyone makes him out to be.

Besides, I don't get it. Every time there's a NASCAR related thread, everyone complains about how it doesnt matter what the decals on the car say, theyre all the same and the branding is just for show. Yet people are lining up to give Kahne a handjob because he drives a 'Dodge',  and an 06 Charger at that  :o.

I dont actually dislike him. I'm glad when does well or win a race and I do root for him. But he's totally overblown just cuz he's a pretty boy. Did y'all ever see that thing on the Biography Channel? "but the fans..were captivated by those eyes" ::)

Whatever it takes to get that Dodge decal across the finish line first and at least the Na$car version of the Charger represents a 2 door.  I'd prefer to give Kahne a hand shake and a slap on the back, but hey whatever you want to give him is your business ;).  Saying he is overrated is an opinion, anyone driving at that level is the best of the best.  That is a fact.

I think most people here are just happy it is finally a Dodge in victory lane, myself included.

Yay!!!!!!!! :boogie: :boogie: :boogie: :boogie: Wait. What is this thread about? ???

I see that after Texas, Dodge has said all teams will run "Chargers."  Penske was gonna run the Intrepid throughout the year at the cookie cutter tracks but Dodge told them to knock it off after Texas.
When I was just a very young lad I looked up and told my dad, a bareback rider's what I wanna be.  I want the whole world to know about me.  In the rodeo arena I'll make my stand.  I wanna be a rodeo man.  I'll come flyin' from the chute with my spurs up high, chaps and boots reachin' for the sky.  Spurin' wild with my head throwed back, you'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.  You'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.

Man...I had to work. I missed it  :-[. I sat half the day yesterday listening to DW rant during the rain delay.  That's pretty cool about Petty coming in 8th. I would have loved to see that.

I'm so with you, Ponch.

ummm... but do ya think there would be a thread about kahne if he didnt win?  and if there wasnt a thread would we still be lining up to shake his hand?

kahne is a good driver, he is respectful, and he doesnt drive dirty.  He may not have been the most consistent last year, but HE was a rookie of the year winner wasnt he before last year?  that tells me he has skills.  I wouldnt challenge him to a race and expect to beat him, would you guys?

I do not think we are in the position to dictate or state "who is a good driver" and who is not because we are just armchair NASCAR fans who are being brand loyal.

oh, in kyle busch made a lasting first impression on me.  comparing him to kasey kahne or ryan newman or jamie mcmurray or rusty wallace or sterling marlin is like comparing apples to oranges in my book.

so, back to the topic at hand... congrats to the DODGE team for helping kahne pull off a victory after 29 years.  That feat should definitely earn them SOME respect don't ya think?

HMMMMMMMMMMM  I just have to wonder, Kasey Kahne is a native of Enumclaw Washington.  This thread was started by who?  a Washingtonian maybe?  Could there be a corelation here?  Could there be a chance that this thread was started because a Washingtonian in a Dodge won the race?  Just a thought.

If I thought he has time to read this board, I would also say congratulation on the win.

I personally root for two drivers.  Kahne and Biffle.  Both from Washington.

I like Kahne, but I think Newman is a better driver. And yes I am from Washington.

He had a big Kasey Kahne days last september in his home town. They invited 20 mopars to the celebration
I was lucky enough to win best mopar, there was 70 cars there alltogether. Kasey's brother did the voting and
talked to Kasey about my car. So I met Kasey and got my Charger jacket sighed and my trophy and a few other things.

Here is a few pics of the show and a couple of friends cars.

Congrats to Kasey kahne. I definately wanted to see that as he is the one driver I always pull for. Yeah he is a little over hyped in some areas, but then again when was the last time you heard them talking about Jr. when he was running 38th in a race? Oh wait every race. You wanna talk about a driver that is over hyped you need to look at the #8 team.

I just like Kahne's style of driving. He isn't aggressive, he gets what he can, and doesn't get pushy.

70charginglizard

This has nothing to do with Washington, Dodge or the new Charger.

Kahne is my favorite driver. I like his style and I was just proud to see him take a win yesterday. It was a good fair win. No dirty play or nothing.

He had a pretty tough time last year and I stuck with him then just as I will stick with him now in his good times. Thats what being a fan is all about.

Wether you think he's over rated or not is your own opinion. It's not going to change the way I feel about him. He is my favorite driver and he always will be as long as he plays fair and doesn't whine and complain like a lot of those other drivers seem to do all the time. I'm sure you all know who I'm talking about.

Later.

That was a good race by Kasey. He stayed up in the top ten, but didn't push it until about 80 laps to go. he is showing some maturity by not running his stuff into the ground from the git-go. I cheer for Kasey now that Rusty isn't racing.  :icon_smile_big:

I also like his driving attitude, which is why I root for him.  But there are days when I just cant resist playing devils advocate.  Sometimes, I like to stir the pot.
