Shifter cable too short...

I have a little bit of a problem.  :scratchchin:

Recently bought a '73 with a 440 and 727 auto trans. (the car was originally a 400 with a 4 speed but was changed over to the auto sometime after the original owner sold it in 1992)

Guy I bought the car from had the 727 pulled and rebuilt and had re-installed it but had not hooked up the shifter, linkage, etc. The car came with a B&M shifter kit.

I took the car to a shop to have them install the B&M shifter and they have just told me that the cable that came with the kit is not long enough. They called B&M and they did not have a longer cable.

Anyone else ever run into the problem? If so, where did you go to get a longer cable? Classic? YearOne?. Did you do some other type of work around? Any help with getting around this problem would be greatly appreciated.

B&M shifters come with a five-foot cable, should be long enough for any installation. I'd question the shop on how they're routing the cable.

If you really need a longer one Jeg's has several lengths.

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thank both of you for your replies.

I spoke with the shop and they said it need to be 6 to 6 1/2 foot long.

I emailed them the link to Jegs and told them to order the one they needed.
