i am not sure what style of center caps are suposed to be on my 72 road runner, i was told that the cone style only went until 71'  ???

1970 - light silver-argent cone style
1971 - dark silver-argent - cone style
1972 thru 1976 - " Nut style"  large cap w/ indentations for lug nut edges.

Your 72 needs the nut style caps
