I have a 904 and a lokar cable  on the kickdown cable that was there when i bought it ,i realize that a lot of people  do not like this set up. But its been OK for me and was set up by the shop that did the trani. I recently just installed a B&M shifter and now i have noticed that the shifts  points in the kickdown are a little different and it must be from me disturbing it . To me it takes to long to shift from 2nd to drive.(at about 3200) and it seems to want to down shift at lower speeds instead of stay in drive like its on the edge of a shift at times. I believe its a length of cable issue but is it to long or to short .I'm sure it a very minor adjustment but which way ? can any help me out on this? The trani has a shift kit in it to.

I would have left it alone. I never have good luck with these mods. It seems that I mess things up when I try re mod, something that was already messed with.

Talked to a buddy of mine he said to give it a little slack sounds like it has to much line pressure,  so i did and its 100 % better shifts like it should. Looks like the lever was not coming all the way back when i checked it out .It is now. :2thumbs:

i realize that a lot of people do not like this set up.

There's a good reason for that. Although the Lokar comes in a package labeled for Mopar it's generic in nature  because of the different lengths of the transmission lever and they don't take that into account.

You need to measure the full travel of the carb lever where the cable attaches and then measure the full travel of the transmission lever where the cable attaches; it usually won't be the same so you need to drill a new hole in the transmission lever so that the full travel of both levers is the same. Also, there should be a spring pulling the transmission lever forward.

It isn't necessary for the trans lever to be full back at WOT but be sure that WOT under the hood is the same as WOT at the pedal...misadjusted throttle linkage will prevent the carb from going wide open when the pedal is matted and that, in turn, will prevent the trans lever from going back enough to provide kickdown.

Remove the cable from the carb and measure how far the hole in the throttle lever moves from idle to WOT. Then measure how far the hole in the trans lever moves from full forward to full back. The movement of the trans lever will likely be more than the carb lever so find the spot on the trans lever that matches the travel of the carb lever and drill there.

It's unlikely that the trans lever will return to the full forward position without a spring assist.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thanks for the info,I do have a spring on it and i can get wot at the carb. After messing around with it getting it to shift in drive  gears and not having kick down work at 1st i was able to adjust it so that it shifts in the drive gears fine and have it kick down when i stomp on it. I have installed a hammer shifter in it as well and everything works great there as far as being able to shift manual as well. So it should be good.  (Just so you know the lokcar cable was not my choice it was on the car when i got it)
