Ok, I tried seeing if this had been asked before and I couldn't find anything. So if im dumb and didn't find it, im sorry.

And I also apologize for asking what might be a dumb question

Will a 8 1/4 rear end with 2.71 suregrip out of a b body car (1972) fit an a body car with an 8 1/4 (1974) that has 2:45 gears? I think that the gears should just swap over if im correct, but will the suregrip part of it swap too?

Thanks for your help.

Not a big difference in years , manufactured, would assume there the same housing etc,
Get the serial part numbers off both and look up, both a body's same width etc,
Don't play with the smaller toys myself , but some one will pipe in who knows for sure now that you have one reply,
Look up all par site for clarification

Does the difference in one being a B Body roadrunner and the other an A body dart make a difference. There IS a difference in width from drum to drum but all we want is the gears and suregrip. I was told the gears should swap but not the suregrip since they're different lengths....

just the axle lengths are obvious difference's i can see , comes out of a wider car
