Especially the stuff on the edges of the cowl vent.  Is there a good way to get it off?

myk

I had my Charger detailed this afternoon and the 'tech had to deal with my sloppy waxing that has wax in all of those hard to reach places.  I think he used rubbing compounds, brushes and a lot of profanity to get just SOME of the residue off...

Ghoste

That doesn't sound fun.  I was thinking of trying something like naptha on a cotton swab.

That'll work. Or you could try using some detailer on a swab or rag also.  :yesnod:

An old electric tooth brush?  :scratchchin:

Would a clay bar work on old wax?

myk

The more aggressive clay bars might do the trick, but then I'd be worried that it'd be taking off too much paint as well.  Your paint doesn't have a clear-coat on it, right?  Well, I guess it doesn't matter-that excess wax isn't on the main surfaces of the car, right?

Ghoste

The white buildup on the black paint is pretty noticeable whether its the main surface or not.  ;D

A clay bar will not remove paint. Surface impurities, yes.

So it could work great on old wax then?

bill440rt

Hmmm... it might!
I would try some simple detailer first with a swab, soaked on a rag, etc.

New wax works really well at removing old dried on wax  :Twocents:

Be sure to remove it all this time!

PPG DX394 works well in those hard to reach areas. Use q-tips or microfiber towels.
