God must love stupid people; He made so many.

I have a Diesel, but I don't make it smoke or try to risible a big rig. Come on, a straight in line 6 small banger is not something to brag about.  :Twocents:

I have had a few 5.9 cummins and when tuned right they are something to brag about. My current truck will spin all 4 35" mud tires on asphalt when hammered on take off in 4 high and also get 25+ mpg when driven easy. In stock form you are correct, nothing special, but when tuned right they are awesome!   :2thumbs:

Stock it was a pig, but now my truck makes right under 400 horsepower and 800 ft/lbs and lights up 6 35 inch mud tires in a 4 high boosted launch. When you double the stock power of a diesel motor, smoke tends to happen  And before anyone says it, I am not one of those douchebags who rolls coal all over everyone every time they hit the street, I can count on my fingers how many times a sizable cloud has come out of my exhaust on a public road.

That took right about 5 seconds to find using Google. If you open your mind to new ideas you may just be amazed at what you can learn. Or, you might learn that you prefer to be an ignorant dickhead. I know where I'm placing my bets...

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

This is hilarious !!
I dynoed my stock 89 Cummins as in no parts added at all , the muffler fell off & got straight piped & I added a K&N filter to the stock air cleaner box , no low restriction high flow A/C ,  I did some minor modifications to the pump ,  & it made 310 HP & 930 ft LBs torque at the rear tires , the engine had over 400,000 miles on it & averaged 27 MPG steady at 7400 lbs , this was dead stock . My 2000 truck was modified & made my 89 feel stock it had so much more power but I never dyned that one .
On the same day while I was at the dyno I witnessed a 2000 truck with twin turbos , different injection pump , chipped , larger High flow injectors & 5" exhaust , he had ported the head & added head studs he may have changed the cam I am not sure , he cranked out 1800 ft lbs torque [measured] with smoke coming off the tires as the tires were spinning on the dyno rollers so the true power could have been easily over 2000 ft lbs & probably around 600 - 700 hp , he had 6 large guys & a gen set loaded in the box to try to get a true reading without spinning the tires but it still overpowered the traction + this was his daily driver .
Never underestimate the power of a well designed diesel , Cummins rules with power & efficiency , Cats are Great too but have pretty much given up with highway engines & light duty applications , Detroit I have driven & I like them but they are far from efficient , Internation made some awesome engines over the years . The light duy applications have a lot more choices & a lot of them are not efficient making decent torque but with similar milage to gas engines but diesels can last 1,000,000 kilometers or even 1,000,000 miles if they are maintained well . While I am not really a VW fan they make killer milage  getting around 80 mpg with decent power sure makes a silly expensive Prius look stupid getting close to double the mpg without hybrid / battery tech which pollutes horrendously during construction & disposal . Way off toptic here !!
Personally right now I am more fascinated with building a killer Cummins 5.9 or 8lt or an International 466 over building a worked 500" Hemi , I just have not figured out what chassis to put it in when I have it built , maybe an older Dodge truck with a fully boxed frame or a rat rod type build or a military Power wagon .
Oh & as Chris said Troy owns the site LOL

Chryco Psycho

Oh Yeah I could close a highway with all the black smoke if I lugged the engine at low RPM & floored it but it ran clean under normal conditions & I was able to tune out a lot of the smoke without hurting power significantly

My 1984 scrambler, was my first car and still probably my favorite.  :2thumbs:  Started off bone stock and worn out.

1984 toyota sr5 xtra cab, previous daily beater, now retired to yard duty.

Also got an '85 for parts, although it does kind of run and drive on its own.

Guess I could also count my '96 ram 2500, 318 5 speed.  The winch has come in handy for more than just shrub removal.   :P

1982? BJ42 diesel landcruiser that I revived from the junk pile and drive when I'm at a friend's place up north.  That thing is a tank!

Wannabe 4x4??

hatersaurusrex

84 HiLux was the pinnacle if you ask me.  Xtracab + SR5 is just icing on the cake :)
