Painting Gel-coat How complicated is it

I would like to have the clear coat on the bass boat resprayed as its an 85 Ranger and getting dull/worn.  Do some of the fiberglass auto body panels come with gel-coat on them similar to marine stuff?  Didn't find anything on a search but I've heard automotive clear doesn't work to good on gel-coat.  Anyway if somebody has some info or knowledge that's sprayed a boat to share I'd appreciate it.  Thx

Generaly enamels acrilics and poliuretanes doesn´t work correctyl whitout primer, but I sprayed whit sucess whit Jotun Megagloss HG, Poliester-Poliuretane.
