Hey guys, im almost back to a charger.

I sold my mustang, decided it wasnt big enough to have this mean/tough look im after. Since i had 2 68 chargers though, i decided to try something else out thats tough, a 1970 chevrolet chevelle. If in end i prefer the charger, il be back. At least im down to 2 of my favourite cars :)

For the hell of it, ive posted the 2 previous cars, mustang and Alans 68 i bought. I say these are the 3 best cars. Mopars toughest looking car to me is the 68 charger. Fords toughest looking car being the 69 mustang (even though its more racy/sporty) and chevrolets toughest looking car being the 1970 chevelle.

So at least i can say that I have owned the 3 best muscle cars ever made and I am happy about that.

You've picked three good ones then and shown your taste with like the Charger best, haha.  What are the details on the Chevelle?

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle

Original California car
396ci engine rebuilt 1300 miles ago.
TH400 gearbox rebuilt
Suspension rebuilt
Interior is brand new. So, dashboard, carpet, door trims, headliner, rear seats, front seats all new. The guages themselves are also new.
Has a new air-conditioner. Works.
Has MSD electronic ignition also.
Gear stick is a B&M shifter.
The rear window, side windows and front window all brand new as well.

Car was frame off restored. Since chevelles are a full frame car, the body was taken off the chassis, chassis was blasted and done in satin black, then the rest of the car done, inside and out, top and bottom on a rotisserie.

Sweet looking Chevelle.  :2thumbs:  That 396 is bad ass too. Any 68 to 71 Chevelle SS would be my next choice if I didn't have my Chargers.

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

I think my wife just ran off with the credit card!

Gorgeous car, I wouldn't mind one of those in the driveway and I think my wife may agree with that.  That stang was real nice as well but it does not carry the same image no.  Still, I couldn't say no to a 69 fastback.  And then there's the charger of course...well...we'll see you soon.

Not sure. I wasn't concerned with it being a true SS as I got my own build plan for it (if i end up keeping it). I just don't like the standard gauges of a non SS car. This has everything that looks SS which I like. I will find out though, who knows, it may be.

That is what I thought. After having the 68 charger, sure the mustang was nice, but it carried a more sports like look rather than the straight out bad ass look that you don't mess with (aka muscle, bulky etc).

At least i can say i have owned the 3 best muscle cars ever made. 68 charger, 69 mustang, 70 chevelle.

Out of them 3, based on that raw muscle look i like, i will either stick with a chevelle or charger. So down to 2 options.

I looked at everything else from coronets, superbees, gtx, roadrunners, Challengers, cudas etc. Gotta say the 68 charger for me is the toughest looking mopar. Chevy has the camaro and c2 stingray. The 70 chevelle is the toughest looking chevy made and compares to the charger, size, toughness etc. And fords its the 69 mustang but fords in general didnt make 'tanks'. The ones they did like the torino doesn't look as nice to me as the mustang.

If i could afford them all, then it would be easy. Like this its been buy 1, drive, sell, buy another 1, drive, sell... now im up to chevelle.... keep or sell... time will tell. If it goes, i only got one other option 'tough' wise, and thats the 68 charger again. So at least i can say im basically at the end of the road with it all. Either keep chevelle or get charger and finished.

The simplest way to explain the look. I like Fast n furious, Vin Diesel (Dom Toretto) drives the charger and the chevelle. His whole persona is gang leader, tough guy, never loses, guy you dont mess with, cross, etc. In a street race hes the guy you dont wanna race. Now the charger/chevelle terms of appearance suits that persona because it is also bulk, bad ass etc.

With or without the movie, obviously im not gonna be walking around with that attitude, tough etc he has, but, the car itself next to all the jap and exotic cars has that look to it of tough that in movies suits that persona because the car looks that way. Thats the look i liked before i even heard of a movie called fast and furious. Fast n furious just solidifed what i thought the car looked like by using a persona like Vin Diesel behind the wheel.

I had a sports car, one day i saw a muscle car drive  by me and i thought nobody would even look at my car next to that. That thing just looked beefy. Wouldnt wanna race that, thats a real car. The movies just amplified that thought i had by putting the tough guy behind the wheel that never loses.

I was always a GM guy........Silverado 4x4's and Chevelle SS.

Then my best bud fired up his, now mine, 69 Charger 440 R/T. I saw the light and thats that.

I will say that if that 396 is a real L78......NOM or not I'd seriously consider keeping it.

Now if it was a 70 SS454 450 hp Chevelle that would be a definite keeper.
