146045 which was on eBay in 2012 has XS on both the VIN and fender tag. The tag has A11 on it. So they do exist.

Thanks for the info RallyeMike, that is what I was looking to know.  It is a beautiful car, and I don't think $75k is a bad deal for it either from the looks of it.  For someone anyway.

Yes there are others that are XS everywhere on the car. There is a R6 car owned by a board member that is this way. It does not even have A11 on the tag. Just the 925xxx VON that signifies 500. Another Hemi 500 that is the same way

So they also occur randomly within the production?

Interesting.  I know its just the vagaries of mass production but it fascinates me.  And then we're puzzled that records don't exist to tell us exactly how many Charger RT's came with dash pads from a 68, misplaced stripes, built in the afternoon and colored in green paint brought to the plant by a guy named Hugo.

Those were pretty fun to look at.

I terms of the C500 XX XS stampings, I imagine for whatever reason, the method of identifying XS cars to be become XX cars caused a blip in the normal production process that was hard to stay on top of. As much as we make of the XX designation today, I'm sure back then it was just another annoying thing to keep track of.

It makes you wonder if the question about the actual total number of 500's made might partially be due to the fact that there are XS VIN 500's ?  :scratchchin:

It would be great to have the real production numbers with as built options and colors. But that is still only half of what we want to know.  How many are left?

Part of the fun of this hobby is the treasure hunt.

How many are left? More than one would expect. 276 known 500's.  197 that I have seen personally.
