My problem with hood pins on the 2nd generations is the location. If I recall, they appear to be too far back from the front edge of the hood and close to the scallops.  :Twocents: :Twocents:  I'd like to see a picture to remind me of what they look like.

Here they are on an originally coded V21 & J45 hood pin RT/SE.....this car is undergoing a resto now & is nearly done!

Thanks, I knew you would have a picture Chris!  I was right about the location. I'm still not a fan of hood pins on 2nd gens,  BUT I must say that Charger looks fine with the V21 hood blackout treatment and hood pins....I'm not convinced hood pins look good without V21.

By the way, you don't need to do anything....I think your car looks cleaner without them IMO!  :drool5:  :2thumbs:

I put this in bold so you see it.
Absolutely not!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :slap:

Chris, you know where I stand. I gotta side with Tuffy & Ron. It's totally your car, but my thoughts is that the whole car flows very nicely now with the V21. It looks real smooth.  :drool5:
I would think the pins would detract from this.

For some reason the '70 Chargers lend themselves better to hood pins. Maybe it's the different placement, or the combination with the loop bumper, not sure. Out of the 2nd gens they just look the best on '70's IMHO.  :Twocents:

And I agree with you all personally, but... Chris has always had a love for the hood pins.

Can you handle the stress of drilling 2 holes in what appears to be a perfectly mint hood?

Lord Warlock

Tend to agree, not a fan of hood pins on these cars at least.  Understand the retro look is cool and all, but I never liked the cables looping to the grill, just distracted the lines of the front end for me.  Never worried about the hood flying off of mine, but it isn't latching right at the moment so maybe i should get worried.  Not afraid to drill a hole, but don't like the wires.

I am tending to agree with the "no" voters.  The pins never really looked right on a 68-69 but like Bill said on a '70 they look right at home......I think the hole drilling will be on hold for now....maybe 7 years from now?

All kidding aside I think that car has reached it's peak!!!  I don't think it ever looked better...

That looks insanely good, the V21 plus rear stripe and vinyl top are perfect. I'm a '68 man but holy crap that would make me turn in an instant!

X3 Great job Fellas.
So was it the newly released Autoworld diecast that finally convinced you to go ahead with it?

looks great now tempted to do same. sort of know how you feel. It took me 11 years to finally decide on painting black DMCL stripes on my 70 charger.

And although it admittedly looks good now, I think the original combo would have been striking!

comet_666

Yah that really makes a difference! Love it!
Did they do that in white at all?

Could have been gotten with any exterior color.  When I was actively doing the 69 Registry, I didnt have any W1 white cars registered.  Had V2 Hemi Orange with the most with B5 Blue following in second...

I think he was talking about the color of the stripes, not the base color of the car.
