Heading to Tennessee to look at/possibly buy a 73 rallye charger. Floor pans look good and the only major rust is in the rear quarter which don't appear to be that bad. It is in good running condition, and does not appear to be a clapped-out rust-bucket. He wants 2k for it (which seems very reasonable). My plan is to return in to it's original glory, and have a fun cruiser at the same time. With the sub-standard pictures and this brief description, does this at least appear to be a good deal, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Any questions/comments would be greatly appreciated.

big block or small?  the hood is worth over 1k if you have the rear valance with the exhaust cut out like the rallye should, there is another $750 from the pics you posted I think it is a good deal

I think an early 70's Charger that is complete, with minimal rust and straight no matter what the engine or transmission is is a deal at $2000. Even more so if it's a Rallye edition. Do your best to see it in person and if it's solid pay the man before someone else does. Run, don't walk.

He seems to be a straight shooter and for some reason appears that he wants me to have it. He's turned down other offers to hold it for me. Also, he's four hours away and is only available on sundays.

I agree if it isn't too rusty, I'd jump on it.... heck even if it is rusty 2k is worth it for parts.

I don't think the rear valance is with that much.  ADM re-pops these now for under $300.

The 340 in the heavy 73-74 cars isn't the most desirable combination, but that seems like a very good price still.  I'd certainly be all over it.
